When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number) on our registration or order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Your credit card information, as well as your personal information, is converted into tiny bits of encrypted code that cannot be read by others during transmission. CHILDRENS PRIVACY POLICY
Mall of America has created a specific privacy policy to set out its policies and procedures with regard to young children (children under the age of 13.) Mall of America recognizes that young children are especially vulnerable and is fully committed to comply with the Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). For our Childrens Privacy Policy, when we refer to a parent we are referring to the parents or legal guardians of a child.
In compliance with COPPA, how Mall of America gathers information regarding young children is set out below. In general, Mall of America limits its information on kids to non-personally identifiable information. We will never ask for certain types of information from a young child, including address and telephone number.
SWEEPSTAKES OR CONTESTS
For a sweepstakes or contests, we will gather only very limited information from a young child as then enter an online contest. For example, we may ask for the first name of the child, the parent or guardians email address, the childs birthday. We then may ask the child to set their own online name and password. We send an email to parents or guardians to notify them that their child has registered for a contest. This email will be sent within 48 hours of when the child registers with us. If we do not receive a request to remove by parents or guardians, we assume that the childs participation is acceptable to parents or guardians. We will assume that future sweepstakes or contests are also acceptable.
In the event that the child is a winner, we will send an email to the parent or guardian. Parents or guardians are encouraged to contact us to review, change or delete information about their children via using any of ways set out at the top of this Privacy Notice. In the event that we make any material changes to our Childrens Privacy Policy, we will post the changes online and will send an email blast to the email address of parents or guardians that has been provided to us. We ask that parents or guardians ensure that the email addressed given to us are current.
